I've worked at the Bishop Museum for almost 40 years, starting as a scientific illustrator, then entomologist, chairman for 15 years, and now senior entomologist. I am interested in the taxonomy of flies in Hawaii and the Pacific, entomological and exploration history, biographies of biologists, antiquarian books, and zoological nomenclature.

I've conducted fieldwork throughout the US, Hawaii, many Pacific islands, SE Asia, China, Europe, Turkey, and southern Africa.
