These individuals were found by a member of public and reported to PfP on Wednesday 8th May at 9:30am. The deaths were reported to DOC by PfP.

The birds were PIT tagged (956000012219963 and 956000012224051). The birds were marked in April 2023 and March 2023, respectively. They were a breeding pair, producing two chicks in the most recent breeding season (both of these chicks successfully fledged and were also PIT tagged).

The birds were taken to Te Kōhanga/The Nest at Wellington Zoo to be necropsied. Both birds had spinal fractures and one had a severely fractured skull. The cause of death for both was ruled a dog attack.
