Split according to http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0131435, Snakes from Baja CA Sur are Crotalus mitchellii, snakes north of Baja CA Sur are Crotalus pyrrhus. This brings iNat in line with the Reptile Database and is supported by @wolfgang_wuster -
