Heads up: Some or all of the identifications affected by this split may have been replaced with identifications of Polyporaceae. This happens when we can't automatically assign an identification to one of the output taxa. Review identifications of Polyporus 50884

Taxonomic Split 111424 (Committed on 09-06-2022)

This genus is getting thinned by this taxon change: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_changes/111423

It would create many unintentional disagreements, so the genus is being split.

Interesting. Lentinus was a separate genus when I was a student. It would be helpful I think to indicate how manny species are affected by the split-----how many are now in Lentinus

And considering the wholesale generic splitting over the Overholts concept of Polyporus, why was Lentinus retained for so long. --MICHAEL GOCHFELD
