Upcoming Changes to the NY iMapInvasives Project in iNaturalist
Thank you to all who have contributed invasive species observations to this project over the years! We wanted to let you know about some planned changes to this project.
iMapInvasives now includes a layer of research-grade iNaturalist records within the iMap Interface itself. So now, your observations of invasive species will automatically be visible within iMap, without having to be tagged to any particular project. You can read more about this at https://www.imapinvasives.org/inaturalist.
Therefore, we no longer need to use this project to curate invasive species records in the same ways we have in the past, and at some point you may notice that your records are no longer tagged to this project. Your records are still valuable to us, we are simply evaluating how best to leverage this iNaturalist project given the development of the new iNaturalist layer within the iMapInvasives interface.
We encourage you to continue submitting these observations of suspected invasive species here on iNaturalist, as these observations will still feed into the iMapInvasives visualization and analysis tools that managers use to guide their work. Feel free to log in at www.nyimapinvasives.org to check out how the iNaturalist data looks in the iMap interface. Your contributions are so valuable in our efforts to map the current distributions and spread of invasive species in New York and beyond!
