Project Update - August 2022

Firstly, welcome to our new project follower; @abragg15! If you know of anyone else that may be interested, please direct them to our page!

August was an interesting month, as we start to see signs of the summer ending. Some trees start to change color, and some fall migrants have started to make their way southward!

The project increased from 5846 to 6141 observations (+295), 1508 to 1551 species (+43), and 150 to 151 observers (+1).

Our number of Research Grade observations increased from 3653 to 3801 (+148). This equates to a Research Grade percentage of 61.90% (down from 62.49%).

In total, there were 294 observations added to the project within August 2022. The observations include 230 insects, 39 plants, 10 birds, 8 arachnids, 4 mammals, 2 fungi, and 1 reptile.

Of these, there were 210 species recorded. Least Skipper and Red-headed Inchworm were the most observed species (5 occasions), followed by Blue Dasher and Silver-spotted Skipper (both 4 occasions).

The observations came from 16 observers. The top five were @briarrose777 (111), mikehensley75 (105), @martyndrabik (38), @calconey (14), and @phonephone (5).

The top observations of the month include:
Widow Skimmer (Libellula luctuosa) - https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/129237323
Monarch (Danaus plexippus) - https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/129364695
