Project Update - June 2022

We didn’t have any new Project Members this month. If you know of anyone, please direct them to our page!

June is the month that we finally hit summer, so the insects are out, the flowers are blooming, and many birds have already had their first brood of hatchlings. Warm days also means more people in our parks, so we have lots to report!

The project increased from 4437 to 5044 observations (+607), 1335 to 1420 species (+85), and 137 to 142 observers (+5).

Our number of Research Grade observations increased from 2855 to 3180 (+325). This equates to a Research Grade percentage of 63.05% (down from 64.68%).

In total, there were 653 observations added to the project within June 2022. The observations include 542 insects, 52 plants, 16 birds, 14 arachnids, 7 reptiles, 6 amphibians, 6 mammals, 4 fungi, and 4 mollusks.

Of these, there were 334 species recorded. Isabella Tiger Moth was the most observed species (11 occasions), followed by Large Yellow Underwing (10 occasions), with and Red-headed Inchworm, Bent-lined Carpet, Oblique-banded Leafroller, and Small Baileya Moth (all 8 occasions).

The observations came from 13 observers. The top five were @mikehensley75 (513), @martyndrabik (88), @briarrose777 (14), @tylerben (9), and @militcadenee (6).

The top observations of the month include:
