Welcome to iNaturalist for the City of Surrey, British Columbia-Canada! We are one of a handful of cities in Canada with a dedicated, long-term plan to protect local biodiversity (see: https://www.surrey.ca/biodiversity). As one of BC's fastest growing cities, we want to ensure that nature continues to hold a special place for our residents, businesses and visitors alike. From the Fraser River to Boundary Bay and the Salish Sea the City's rivers, streams, wetlands, forests and farmland connect our neighbourhoods through a "Green Infrastructure Network", this network is the backbone supporting the City's biodiversity. Sharing your observations will be an important way to contribute to helping us monitor and protect our local flora, fauna and the ecosystems they depend on.

The personal information you post on iNaturalist may be collected by the City of Surrey, BC under s.26 (c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for the purpose of engaging with your observations posted on iNaturalist.
