My mother inspired me to explore nature. She was always taking photographs of flowers and butterflies as we hiked in the mountains, canoed in the Boundary Waters, or the parks in Nebraska. We always carried guide books in our daypacks to identify birds, flowers & trees.
I am much luckier today because we have digital cameras.
I became a middle school science teacher. The ability to share my photos with my students helped open their eyes to the world around them in a different way than just showing them a photo from the internet. One of my goals was to make them lifetime learners and Citizen Scientists. Now that I am retired, I get to explore, even more, look more closely, and keep learning.

I am grateful for the people who take the time and have the patience to help me identify the beautiful and amazing creatures that live in our world. I am grateful to have a site that allows me to document my observations...not only of birds or flowers or bugs but all types of flora and fauna.

Hurrah for iNaturalist! I am proud to be part of this community.

Thank you for what you do.
