Using bats (Mammalia: Chiroptera) as a focal group, my research involves understanding animal-habitat relationships using state-of-the-art techniques such as molecular techniques, acoustic bat detectors, and telemetry, among others. Currently, my research is divided into five main areas: (1) habitat-use studies including species distributions and community ecology, (2) forest ecology and management as relates to bats, (3) acoustic studies from reference call libraries to complex acoustic studies of related species, (4) museum studies on taxonomy and systematics of bats, and (5) role of fruit bats in dispersing seeds of tropical plants
