Expert on the flora of Northern Michigan, particularly the western Upper Peninsula. Currently working in public schools in Madison, Wisconsin and quickly learning the flora of the Driftless Area. Always happy to connect with people and go botanizing!

I'm from Lansing, Michigan and graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2020 with a degree in ecology. Although particularly skilled with birds and plants, I am also fascinated by butterflies, herps, odonates, and really any other living thing. I love ecology as a whole - the known, the known unknown, the unknown unknown, and especially the unknown known.

You may notice that I've opted out of community ID on some individual observations. This is because of an increase in irritating IDs like "Plantae" and "Angiospermae" on plants that I've already identified at a finer scale. I just don't want any of my observations living in Angiospermae obscurity for the rest of time!

All of my photos on iNat are totally okay to use with credit and for non-commercial purposes. Asking is not necessary as I will always say yes! If wanting to use photos for any other reason, please contact me directly. If you use them in a publication, I would appreciate a PDF sent to the email address below, if possible.

Finally, I've learned that I'm awful about responding to messages on iNat, so any time-sensitive correspondence is best done by email at I do not respond to requests to collect seeds from wild plants and I will never share locations of wild orchids.
