I'm retired in July 2022 after teaching geography and environmental studies at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, CA for 25 years. I taught numerous multi-day field study courses (and also participated in some as a student) in various locations throughout California including Point Reyes National Scenic Seashore, Monterey Bay region, Lake Tahoe basin, Yosemite N.P. & Sierra Nevada, the Eastern Sierra, White Mtns., etc.). Being a lifelong avid outdoorsperson, I've hiked, backpacked, and camped extensively in the Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges of Oregon and California and further fed my alpine wanderlust by making more brief forays into most of the world's major mountain ranges. Desiring to learn more about nature interpretation in the habitat where I live I completed the University of California's "CA Naturalist" certification course at Effie Yeaw Nature Center in Sacramento in Nov. 2017. I now reside at The Sea Ranch in northern Sonoma County where I enjoy hiking and observing nature along the bluff trail to the west and in the redwood forest to the east. I also volunteer as a docent during birthing season at the Harbor Seal rookery a 10-minute walk from my house.
