I love nature, backpacking and photographing wildlife. I’m retired so I have plenty of time to explore the outdoors. My last six years of employment was with the Forest Service working on hiking trails in the Salmo-Priest Wilderness Area and Colville National Forest.

I regret not being able to get a photo of a Woodland Caribou, and now that chance at least in the Continental U.S. is gone. The Forest Service had tried several times moving individuals from Canada to the small herd that roamed between Southern Canada and Northeast Washington/North Idaho. Unfortunately their numbers continued to decline and the effort to help the species survive in the lower U.S. was given up. I am hopeful that some group will try again.

iNaturaliist is a great group to belong to for displaying what’s in your area and viewing the amazing life that is all around us. There is so much out there to see!
