I've been a naturalist since I was a kid constantly venturing outside in search of snakes. Then in summer of 2010 I was bit by the bug of birding which fully cemented my life in the outdoors. I picked up butterflies in 2012, moths in 2014, dragonflies in 2015, and Orthoptera in 2020. My main focus aside from birds is the distribution of Odonata within the state of Virginia. With climates and habitats changing, Odonata have shown incredible distributional changes be that species retreating north or southern species filling new spots further north than ever known. I've spent large amounts of time in Virginia's Piedmont, Coastal Plain, Mountains, and Plateau Regions. I even spent a summer at sea off of Hatteras, NC learning about Gulf Stream fisheries, birds, and marine wildlife.
