If I have a staggered response I am deployed in the field! I’ll get back to you as soon as I can🥳
*** You can be an amateur and make great discoveries!
Consider donating to INaturalist as a monthly supporter! I increased the amount this month. Remember the law of reciprocity!
Donate to your local organizations too:

  • Cleveland Museum of Natural History (ProtectCLE )
  • Ohio Wetlands Association
    These are good choices and have my *permanent support. Don't waste money on trivial spending. Donate to good organizations that help study and preserve. You’re 4.00 a day spending at Starbucks = $120.00 a month. You could take 50.00 of that and donate here (easy). Let’s keep the animals, plants, and stewards of the animals in operational funding!

Connecting to my Native American/Polynesian roots and the "citizen science" aficionado in me. Brown Indigenous people welcome! I am just an amateur photographer trying to capture what I see. Anyone can observe on here that's what I like about it. You do not have to have a naturalist certification. There are incredibly amazing and educated people from all over the world that help with IDs and information on the observations. If I'm wrong about ID and you know more, it's not going to hurt my feelings if you correct it. That is unless you are a pretentious, harassing, or discriminating person on here. Blocked then.

Hiking and exploring (and being deployed!) with Long Covid/vaccine complications is not easy. What can be easy is the capacity to push myself no matter how hard it may seem (doc orders), in order to enjoy the amazing natural life of the outdoors and enable better breathing/prevent clotting/permanent neurological complications (Cleveland Clinic Long Covid reCOVer Center if you need outreach help). Nature helps heal.

~~~Hiking in the snow and cold but finding great discoveries in the winter!~~~Monitoring and observing Sandusky Bay, Ohio area eagles and other animals/endangered species during the winter and early nesting season. #1 observer of Bald Eagles on INAT in Ohio 2020 &2021 Winter project.
Number # 2 on INAT for bumblebees in Ohio 2020 (amateur too!) Curator and world bee expert John Ascher really motivated me to understand bumblebees. I may not identify correctly, but I get every photo that I can maneuver! Observing obscure SW- SE Sandusky Bay area, northern ponds in Castalia, and Bay View for bumblebee colonies. Observing home pollinator gardens in southern Medina County, and family wooded/ponds farm site in Wakeman too (after work/deployments).
I am not retired and in competition with anyone so don't worry lol. I work from home and deploy in difficult situations, this is just reflection and re-energize time for me :) Being deployed in several areas of the United States gives me an opportunity to experience the diversity of different animal and plant species. This also allows me to give important observations after weather/environmental disasters.
Using a Collector application and ArcGIS QuickCapture data apps make it easy to keep mini observation notes too.
Thank you especially to the National Geographic Project observers, martyndrabik, malisaspring, renowned herper Bobbyfingers, many of the incredible millennials and GenZs that love to explore from project (protectCLE), college student biologists, and young naturalists that are eager to help everyone. All of the curators from INAT (especially John Ascher). Shout out to walkwithbears. susnyder, and beartracker ( youtube.com/beartracker777 ) for the incredible knowledge and input for citizen science people. There are so many more new contacts and freinds on here thank you for the ID help🦋
RIP @greglasley such a helpful and kind man for amateur INAT people.
