I'm a teacher in the humanities, but in my early childhood, I begged my mother for a butterfly net and bug guide. And, I spent a lot of time in the woods going for walks with my dad, who always enjoyed the outdoors and had a keen interest in wildlife. I have been fascinated ever since. I love this site because I can learn more about the world around me.

All of my future observations are dedicated to the memory of my nephew, who recently passed (12/24/2017). He was always supportive of my love of nature, no matter what I photographed. John, you will always be in my heart and on every walk I take.
