I am a certified Texas Master Naturalist (Galveston Bay Area Chapter), part of of the Fall 2022 Class. My first love is reptiles, and in particular, snakes (of which I've kept many, including venomous species, in the past); however, in the past few years insects (in particular Odonata, but also insects in general) and birds have become serious interests. Really though, I'm deeply intrigued by the diversity of life in general. iNaturalist has been a wonderful tool for me to learn about a vast variety of taxa I had very little knowledge about.

Professionally, I am a virologist, and my current work involves filoviruses (Ebola and Marburg viruses), henipaviruses (Hendra and Nipah viruses), Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus, and arenaviruses (Lassa, Junin, etc.).
