Imperial County is the southeastern-most county in California where it borders Arizona and Mexico. Although it is predominately desert, there is intensive row crop farming with water pulled from the adjacent Colorado River. Imperial County also encompasses the vast majority of the Salton Sea which attracts hundreds of thousands of birds every year. Additional features of interest include a portion of Anza-Borrego State Park, the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, the Algodones Dunes, and the towns of El Centro and Calexico. This list includes all of the plants, animals, and other wildlife I have photographically documented in the county.
