Nature walk 10/14

I walked in the reserve next to the plex for about 30 minutes. It was very hot outside, as in the morning I needed a sweatshirt but now I was basically sweating while just being outside. The reserve was filled with plants, but I wanted to look for the different types we talked about in class. I found a plant from the bryophyta group (moss), a Polypodiopsida (fern), a Gymnosperm (pine), and angiosperm (knotweed) which was pretty cool. I also found a clover with a bee on it which I thought was interesting, as I didn't think the bee would have stayed while I was taking the picture. It's crazy how much plant diversity there really is, as before this class I never really thought about the different classification of plants.

Nature Walk 10/6

I walked in the reserve next to the plex for about 30 minutes. It was mid 60s, a nice change from the rain we got the last couple days. It seemed like I would walk 10 steps and there would be another type of fungi. Typically walking, I wouldn't notice this but doing this assignment made me realize just how much fungi there really is. It was also pretty buggy, but I enjoyed reading my book after finishing the assignment. I also found this moss on the tree, and wasn't sure if it was a fungus or a plant, but decided to log it anyway because it was everywhere. The reserve is pretty small, but I do enjoy the different paths that run through it.

Nature Walk 9/29

I walked around the Boston College Reserve we have on campus. I walked for about a half hour around 7 pm in which it was dark and cold. I was expecting to see and hear more animals or insects, yet only a few mosquitos were there. I thought it was cool how there were benches throughout, as it seems like it would be a calm and quiet place to relax at. There were a lot of short ankle level plants and also a lot of trees. There were pine, birch and even oak trees which was surprising. The only thing I hoped was that it wasn't next to the main road because I fear that animals won't be there very often especially during the day due to the business and noise of the road. Overall, I saw a wide rang of plants that maybe you wouldn't notice or see everyday on campus. (I also took these pictures on my phone and put them into the observations later).
