Cleaning up audio for IDs

We can document many species using the Soundcloud-iNaturalist integration. And just like having clear photos for visual identification, we would like to have clear audio to make identification easier. But I haven't been able to find as good, clear introduction to cleaning recordings from nature so that IDs are easy...or at least not using free / open-source software. Because it's easier (for me) to write a post with a bunch of screenshots elsewhere, I've attempted to write a guide at this link. Until I get a commenting system set up on the GitHub site, please feel free to give feedback here...I'd like to learn how others accomplish the same task, or if I'm doing something downright wrong. Update: I have updated the GitHub Pages post based on feedback from @aredoubles (thanks!).

Cheers Carrie. Thanks for thinking of us. It will be fun to add an audio dimension to the Biodiversity Galiano Project.
