Description

Around 3-4 mm length.
Tiny front fins?? Fins whirred really fast and not quite caught on camera. Saw around 30 in one spot on shallow silty bank. Would alternate between swimming near top and diving lower. Individuals would dart up and gather around a velvety ant that had fallen in water and was swimming on surface, but seemed uninterested after bumping the ant. Pond had a lot of detritus and the shore was maybe 5 inches deepest, no plants besides some duckweed interspersed.
