What

Calyptrate Flies (Zoosubsection Calyptratae)

Observer

anika_k

Date

August 2023

Place

Private

Description

  1. The wings of the fly are extremely sheer, a great contrast to the dark stripes of the fly’s body and the bright red eyes of the fly.
  2. The legs of the fly are extremely thin and stick-like; it almost seems impossible that those skinny legs would be able to hold up the fly’s thicker, heavier body, especially when the fly is crawling across walls.
  3. This fly didn’t move at all for over 2 minutes, staying in the same place and moving its front legs before finally crawling down the wall and underneath the dirt.
