Growing on the grassy banks of the Verde river, under a downed willow tree near some cocklebur plants. They shared a long tap like root may have been growing on rotting wood deep under surface, These were a little old and soggy but saved a specimens.
Growing on the ground at the base of dead aspen. Possibly growing on wood below the ground. strong polypore smell. Blewits close by. Solid mass. Mild polypore taste.
Growing near Gamble Oak, Ponderosa pine and Douglas fir in the area. growing on the edge of buried oak. polypypore smell. No radial pattern noticeable in cap.
Not sure if this is different than my other observation that is more reddish color. Pattern on stem looks different. Seen at around 7,500 feet in mixed forest.

Growing on ground at the base of dead Englemann Spruce. Mild taste. Stem 4” long and over 1” thick.
Growing on ground in mix conifer. Smells like almond. Smaller stature. Bulb. Yellow staining all over and some pink blush.
Growing in sandy soil and leaf litter under willow, ash, cottonwood and other trees by river. One somewhat dried specimen was found 15' from the second group found 11 days earlier https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/206007969 and the rest were found 15-20 yards away.
Growing in ground in mixed conifer. Burgundy colored top with some color bleeding into the flesh. Large diameter tubes.
Taken from Snowbowl along Humphreys trail at Approx 10,000’. On ground in mixed conifer. Mostly fir/ spruce. Fruity smell. Bruise black. No picture in situ.
