Single blue-green individual observed on cigar plant. I suspect that this is Halictinae, but because I am unsure, I have left the identification at the family level until someone corrects it. Overcast, breezy, 83F.
October 10 was the fall bioblitz at Oliver Nature Park, and I even had the chance to go out and get some observations! :)
It was a blast -- 66 folks (children and adults) showed up, and I think everyone had a good time. Yippee, nature! :)
Explored this little area at lunch today. These are such great corridors for wildlife!
Found this wasp out this morning checking out mist flower in the misty rain. I think it might be an ichneumon type. It was small about 1.5 cm.
have more pictures if need a certain feature but was hard to get as it crawled around and under the plants.

On coneflower. Might be Sastra petulca, which I photographed nearby in early June, but iNat. didn't show this species as a possibility.

Wasp gathering pollen from prickly ash tree. I'm wondering if this wasp is a threat to the giant swallowtail larvae on this tree as well.
at first glance I thought it was a bloom of some sort then I look closely at it and saw it was eggs of something, you can see it getting ready to lay another egg
2nd one of these sighted on the same Esperanza over about a week long period. The video is amazing as its wings look like purple mist in the sunlight.
There were several of these on this plant
