Sorry for the bad photo. The wind was blowing and it was getting dark. There was a round, green fruit.
I’m really confused about this. This is in a thicket in the woods. Last December, I found small flower pawpaws fruiting on it (green, but about three inches long) and I tagged it with a pink ribbon so I could go back and see if it would produce fruit again during the winter. The pink ribbon is still there, but the leaves do not look at all like the paw paw from last year. I’m almost positive I was careful to tie the ribbon on the same branch that had the fruit, but I guess there is a chance I tied it to another plant that was mixed up with it.
