Getting this IDed for a friend. He writes "It is the only example I have ever seen and is on the roadside of Moana Road, Plimmerton. Pretty sure it is a wild brassica of some sort (turnip/radish) of which there are many in the area both yellow and white (?very pale blue) flowers but nothing with this colour - rather striking! Possible mutant? like the rest of us in Moana Road!!!! One photo shows the leaves"
I took a stab and suggested Hesperis matronalis. Sweet rocket.
but apparently the foliage is quite different
White flowering. Single plant observed on the roadside verge.
We've been puzzling over this one for years so I thought it was a good chance to post it for ideas / id. We know Lawson's Cypress was planted in this area in the early 20th C but don't know if these are it. These are a whole group of trees close together. What's distinctive is that they all split less than 1m, most less than 0.5m from the ground and then form multiple vertical "trunks" with few branches.
