We counted the buds, flowers and finished flowers starting at the base and working our way up the stalk, noting what was present at each leaf axil. Photos 2 and 3 show separate rosettes forming next to the main rosette. Photo 4 shows axil #1, the lowest and presumably the first flower or bud to form. The photos continue in order up to axil #22
Axil #3 has a bud forming well below the other buds. The finished flower at axil #14 has two photos; the second is a closeup of the stigma extending out of the finished flower. At axil #17 is an open flower, including a closeup of the anthers which appear to be finished.
On scrub oak sp.
Host: Blue Oak.
Spring generation. I'm not sure on the ID, but I figured it was a place to start. And there's a 'horn' on the gall. First photo shows upper surface of leaf with an inset of the gall enlarged. I'm seeing tiny raised circles, but I don't know if they're pertinent.
