Some have a white "Mohawk" and a white patch on the bill. Have two tone cheeks. In the better light, I can see more color and am more certain of my ID, but ID help would be appreciated.

Even though I don't have a shot where the blue patch shows, the crisp white crescent at the base of the bill and the white rump patch make me lean toward blue winged teal... However, my first thought was lesser scaup female. Any ID help is appreciated.

Nov 10 720a Cattail Pond Cedar Ridge Preserve small diving duck like bird,
brown head and neck. lighter body, faint stripe across the bill

I watched it for a while and even saw it get attacked by what must have been one of the resident snapping turtles

it was diving for food and when it was floating on the surface all of a sudden it was frantically trying to get away from something that had a hold of it from underneath the water... the bird managed to free itself and retreated to the other side of the pond.

it stood up on the edge of the pond and I could see a patch where feathers had been removed... after a few minutes of recuperation it flew off toward Joe Pool Lake

Mar 17 720p Sunset Hike at USACE Overlook at Joe Pool Lake. When I noticed the large flock arrive; I first thought to myself - "Coot Coot everywhere a Coot." Its not unusual to see 500+ American Coot in this area of the lake. They landed down near the Dam and I was near the cove. As I hiked closer I could see they were NOT American Coot but some other duck. There are about 500 ducks in this flock
