Taken while surveying Golden-cheeked Warblers on The Nature Conservancy's Barton Creek Habitat Preserve in southwest Austin. We saw two birds on the side of the trail as we drove through the preserve before dawn to the first survey point. One stayed and it turned out to be a migrating Upland Sandpiper. This poor photo was taken through my windshield with the headlights illuminating the bird.

There were about 6 Uplands at this location

Two of the birds circled overhead and I recorded their "quip-quip-quip" flight calls. The recording was made with an iphone and edited with Audacity. I used both low and high pass filters to reduce nearby highway noise and insect noise.
