Several (over 40) Cormorants were observed resting on an old structure near Redfish bay.
These observations were from the first couple of trips to the ranch I photographed at for almost 10 months.
Out checking our game cameras and we stumbled on these two garter snakes in a tussle. One was definitely winning.
Saw 6 on June 4 and 5, 2015. Got mostly really crappy photos, some through windshield, but they're identifiable.

On my way down to the Texas Master Naturalist state conference, I stopped at a few state parks I hadn't been to before.
Lake Livingston State Park is a really nice place. It was starting to rain on me a little bit, so I couldn't stay as long as I wanted to. Cool stuff observed nonetheless! :)
not in breeding plumage
I needed to get out this morning after having been indoors for for the past several days. This morning it was raining off and on and was a dark overcast morning.
I saw the usual creatures and a couple of new ones for me at the dike today. I did notice that the Sanderlings and turnstones have moved on, albeit much later than I remember in the past. The late avocet was nice to see.

Neotropic Cormorant flies low over the Elm Fork Trinity River late in the afternoon.
A few more photos from the spring of 2011, that was a great spring for me, I had just returned to Texas having lived in other states for 30 years.
I saw a pair of them on some carrion on the field. I couldn't make out what it was.
