I am observing the Spanish Moss that is growing on this Oak tree
My initial impression was of an oversized R. copallinum - about 8’ tall with huge infuctescences, but twigs more slender than R. glabra or typhina. But on closer inspection the branchlets and fruits were densely short-pubescent. Rhus x pulvinata (which iNat calls Rhus x borealis for some reason, even though POWO recognizes the former name) is the default hybrid, but I wonder if it could be Rhus copallina x R. typhina, which I don’t believe is a described hybrid. I’m sure there are some folks with opinions, but I’ll wait for leaves before I get too excited.
