Weed In front garden bed
This former Lespedeza is one of my favorite weeds due to its photogenic foliage. The specific epithet "striata" means striped, and you can see how neatly the secondary veins stripe the leaves.
Another fun feature of this little plant is the stipules. These are the paired, pale flaps of tissue at each node of the stem. Not all types of plants make stipules, but legumes (bean and clover relatives like this plant) usually have pretty large ones, and what those look like can be useful in identifying particular species.
