On Magnolia grandiflora
This was my favorite find on this TN trip. I was glad I took a closer look because at first glance it looked like something more mundane, like leftover berry sepals. I had never seen it before.
I watched three close together, posturing at each other, and could hear many more around
These huge midges were everywhere. Over a centimeter
Chipping, with a whisper-singing mockingbird and a Red-bellied Woodpecker
Look out below! 🤣
Two and a Barred! Loud acorn falling around :37; warning!
I watched this shrike take the grasshopper off a barb, pick at it a while, then put it back on another barb. I've heard they store prey this way, but this was the first time I've observed it.
