A Synura with a very granular cytoplasm. One or two flagella per cell (marked with "F"). This specimen was photographed on the same day the water sample was taken. I'm speculating that the vesicles are not oil droplets which I've seen when viewing specimens from water samples that have been held for days at room temperature. (Stress response to nutrient depletion.) That said, I have no idea why these cells are so granulated.
- A water sample was taken on 08/10/2022 from pond-edge using a 10µ dip net to enrich for microbes. Air temp. 82°F.
