Found about a dozen of these near the South branch of the Humboldt Park Lagoon!
Some kind of clam or mussel, found partially buried in creek sediment. It was dead, but still had the muscles on the hinge of the shell. Unsure wether it is a wild species or a cast away commercial one.
Was originally found in a dirt pile
Extensive shell midden on slopes above Genesee River; associated glass bottles date site to late 19th - early 20th century.
