Description
Two Blotched tiger salamanders found crossing the road near Drumheller on a rainy evening and photographed within the week before release. They were a common sight on the roads there on damp nights in the 90's, not so much in subsequent decades.

Description
This female moose seems to be suffering from winter ticks. The photos of the tick itself were taken from a close by location where I saw the same moose laying down. It was snowing heavily and I was losing the site of the ticks themselves so was in a hurry.

Description
Well, this one was certainly fun to watch. It was trying to get the sparrows that frequent the shrubs. It tried a few approaches, without any luck, before heading south towards the natural area.

Description
White stripes, wide oculo-malar spaces, and rufous spot are diagnostic for this species.
This is an unusual observation of the species including a nest, as nests are almost never seen.
This is also quite a southerly record for a nest of this Arctic species.
