Place

Texas, US (Google, OSM)

Description

Yes I know it is a snake and not a shrike, but it is our local shrike's larder along the fence line. Snake hung there from 11/24 through 11/28, but was no longer there the afternoon of 11/29.

Around the Aiken cemetery wrought iron fence perimeter - the only one I saw mostly intact after the Salado Highland Games piping competition in the public area surrounded by a split rail fence and chain link fence.

Description

Indigofera on the other side of the fence of an overgrown pasture. More of a peach color bloom but unable to get closer for foliage shots in the leafy clutter. Thinking it may be miniata.

Rodents (Order Rodentia)

Observer

Date

Place

Description

Decapitated small rodent impaled on branch stub of a young live oak tree, about 42 inches off the ground. There is a shrike that I see infrequently out of camera range. He/she often impales small rodents, frogs and insects on this live oak, and another live oak and a small cypress tree less than ¼ mile away.
