Yes! 8 years I've been looking for this, a fabulous animal. Found in garden compost.
I am not at all clear about the distinction between cinereus and vandellii, but:
length c.170mm
body annuli - 116 (I think, but may have the body/tail separation in the wrong location) - photo shows yellow dashes representing 10 annuli, then dots for remaining 6.
I would greatly appreciate reasons for any species suggestions - thanks.

We had the door open and this specimen flew inside the house, stayed long enough for me to capture a few photos and then flew back out the door.
Photo #3 (blurry) is the only photo I have that shows the legs.

Description
two large individuals under a stone - but by the time I had put the stone down, they were gone. I was already thinking of making a casual observation just to remember the encounter. On the way back I looked under the stone - nothing, but another next to it had at least one of them. Definitely more than 2 cm, fortunately Scantius aegyptius works as size comparison.

Having never seen one before, I've been fascinated by Strepsitera in recent days and been checking every Polistes wasp just in case - then a male flew in to the house and landed on the table in front of me! I fear that its rear abdomen was slightly damaged in some photos as it was under a glass.
@gung Hi Daniel, is there enough detail here to determine the family, or further? With many thanks
