Another fight between female bees. First the bee in the es fought off the outside bee. Then the outside bee regrouped and flew back in, they tussled some more, and then the bee in the nest followed the other one up and out.

I’ve never seen a coyote and a mule deer interact before! The coyote was just lying down resting, and then the deer slowly grazed it’s way towards the coyote and sniffed at it while it was lying down. The coyote looked a little fearful and moved a few steps away, then the deer gently stamped its front feet at it, and the coyote ran further away. That’s definitely the closest I’ve ever seen them come to each other.

For iNaturalist, do I ID the coyote or the deer? 🤔

Posting multiple individuals within this observation, as I didn't have a good system at differentiating each one. This pack had about 4-6 members, all very accustomed to human presence, though still very cautious.

Seen here on one of our dams hanging around with an African Black Duck. Stayed alongside it for several days and then disappeared. A pair used to frequent this dam and were quite aggressive toward the Yellow-billed duck and would do everything possible to cut the Yellow-billed mother off from her youngsters.

Back in 2011, when I got this picture and reported the sighting to the Washington Ornithological Society, they indicated it had been a couple years since one had been reported in Washington (state).

I walked the area for years, including nearly 4 years after this sighting, never seeing a Northern Cardinal again.
