Description

In a "dead-tree" swamp in Northern Mt. Loretto State Forest; these waters were impacted by runoff from a DOT salt pile many years ago, but seems to have been flushed enough that frogs and plants that one might expect to see there have recovered.

Description

I visited the Adirondacks around Old Forge in August and happened upon five stems of this lily growing along the road near Big Moose Lake. The were on the opposite side of the road from any camps and just beneath a rock face in a very natural looking area. One stem had a single blossom, 2 stems had 2 blossoms each and 1 stem had 3 blossoms. I am adding a photograph of the leaf whorls. Stems ranged in size from a bit over a meter to around 2 m. Seven whorls of leaves on this stem. Only 5 whorls on the stem with a single blossom.
