What

Foxglove Tree (Paulownia tomentosa)

Date

May 28, 2021 02:56 PM EDT

Description

This tree is near a large Catalpa and the leaves appear identical but this seed pod is not Catalpa. The outer brown cap is soft suede like . There is a very tender green cup atop the thin stem that fits inside he brown cap. They look like little mushrooms all over the ground around this one tree. The only other trees nearby are locust, redbud, & maybe a walnut on next property over. It is an old urban area so it could be a cultivar but the tree is huge and it is unlikely landscaping would have been done in this neighborhood. The leaf edges are entire, not serrated.
