This seriously wounded large snake was found as shown in these photos. It was so big that I first thought it might be an Eastern Indigo Snake. My best guess is that it barely escaped from a bobcat or large raptor (I did see a bobcat nearby).

Birding with my brother and saw a Northern Mockingbird actively wing-flashing (a defense display). I looked down and saw a Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake!
This was my first time seeing this species, but I immediately realized it was different than other rattlesnakes due to its ashy-gray coloration with tinges of rust and red on the back, as well as its smaller size. Some quick google searching revealed my answer. Ssp. is endemic to and expected in Florida.
