Description

Growing in sand at the edge of a path under Coccoloba uvifera and Scaevola taccada. Caps dry to slightly tacky; up to 75.5 mm wide and up to 28.3 mm high. Stems up to 49.9 mm long and up to 26.5 mm wide. Stems and context slowly bruising brown. Odor slightly acidulous and fruity, a bit like green coconut. Taste not distinctive.

Description

Substrate may be Pinus. Immersed perithecia emerging in a cushion-like stroma. There is white material between the ostioles. There is a yellow staining to the wood. Asci IKI-, 50-64 x 5-6µm, the spore bearing part 30-39µm. The spores are ellipsoid, light brown, with two guttules, 5-7 x 2.5-3µm, no visible septa. There is what appears to be a germ pore at one end.

Description

Erumpent apothecioid pyrenomycete, 0.6-1.1 mm diameter, emerging from outer layer of bark. Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, 200-250 x 50-53 µm. IKI- Pseudoparaphyses septate with knob-like branches. Ascospores 50-67 x 20-24 µm, yellowish brown, muriform, starting as hyaline didmyospores.
