Three condors (2 adults, 1 immature) roosting in morning on ponderosa pine snags in a burned ponderosa forest, south of Jacob Lake, Kaibab National Forest. They were slow to take flight as they warmed themselves in the morning sun (waiting for wind to pick up?), mainly taking short flights from one snag to another. The immature bird seemed impatient to go, passing the time by snapping twigs off of its perch branch with its beak, and did eventually get airborne while we were there. 4th photo of immature in flight near a Turkey Vulture.

One of the 5-6 seen in remnant natural grasslands in southwest New Mexico.
Heartbreaking to come across this recent roadkill of White-sided Jackrabbit in southwest New Mexico. Mortality from automobile strikes is, along with habitat loss, the main reason for their regional decline.
Confirmed ID and first state record for this species. Per Dennis Paulson It's a perfect match for a female Coryphaeschna adnexa, not old enough to have lost its cerci yet.
Found this deceased in our front yard this morning. I believe it to be the North American Least Shrew. For size reference the ruler behind it is centimeters NOT INCHES.
As a side note, if this is determined to be a Least Shrew by those that know more than me, this is the 3rd one found on our property in the past 20 years..
