Description

Photographs taken by my younger daughter with a much better camera than mine; this is the same creature that I have presented in an earlier posting. Her camera for some reason got the date wrong; she in fact took these photos on the 28/6/2017, at the same time as I did. Her photos show much finer detail of the wings and body than mine do, which should assist with identification. I can't add these pictures easily to the earlier posting so have posted them here separately.

Seen on a window screen at a holiday cabin, "Cutter's Rest', near Mt Mowbullan, Bunya Mts. I have no idea what it is, except that it's a moth not a butterfly. Suggestions, please!

Found 3 more, here's one with the best photo's:
https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/72855505

They come just after proper dark. Between 6:30pm & 7:00pm.
Notice the setae at the front of the hindwing, that goes into a "pocket" on the forewing.
When I asked what that was Andy Young said:
"That spur and reticulum arrangement that co-joins the wings is the frenulum. It's quite a handy taxonomic feature: if you look in Moths of Australia, it is often included in character matrix for diagnosing the various Families. "
