Seen - briefly - on a utility pole. My ID is a total guess. Improvement welcomed.
Another one of those unusual and so very interesting things that wouldn't stick around. I only got a glimpse of it and it took off as I went for a photo.
Never saw something like this before or since. This is the best visual match I could come up with. Idk if something else matches better.
I started off thinking 'those look like elytra vs. wings', then 'what yellow & black long-bodies beetles do I know' (answer: Locust Borer), went up the tree a little from there and looked at photos. Not very scientific.
