This lake is situated at an altitude of 17,000 feet, in North Sikkim, India. While taking some photos of high altitude Primulas and other ground-stuck flowers, this Bee came dashing and sat on this Primula. Insects around these places cannot fly normally, let alone hover over flowers, like in lowers altitudes simply because of the fast blowing wind.
Surprised to see bees, butterflies, moths, frogs, etc. at such high altitudes and cold places. Major part of the year these places remain under snow. And now for the few months that's snowless, after 3-4 hours of morning calm, the wind blows so strong that fliers seem to have a terrible times. But they are surviving and pollinating the few plants that are stuck to the ground (to grow quickly, flower quickly, give seeds quickly, and perhaps to avoid the wind)!
